18TH CENTURY GEORGIAN MANOR HOUSE

Come and stay in The Lodge at Elm farm (aka The Elms) in a grade 2 listed property that has been totally restored from a bare shell!

As featured in the BBC's Restoration home S2E3 you can watch the transformation from the start to end! With hardwork, stress and endless amounts of money, we finally completed Elm Farm after the cameras had gone home!

Watch here (go to season 2 Episode 3): Restoration Home

Elm Farm fell into disrepair until we took the project on in 2011. Anything that was damaged / rotten was replaced with like for like materials, Elm Farm is essentially a new build listed building! but still retaining the original charm and character when it was first constructed Circa 1730 by the Clay Family of Claycross.

The property was originally over 5500sqft, it is now two separate dwellings - The Manor and The Lodge (where you'll be staying), each with their own unique charm and characteristics.

Elm Farm is nested in the centre of the village of North Wingfield, historically a mining village. Today it's a residential village with shops, walks and great access to many tourist attractions.

The Manor & The Lodge as of today

The Lodge forms the East wing of the estate and was originally where the staff and cooking rooms where located, it was also used as the shooting lodge for the hunts back in the 18th Century. The rustic charm has been retained with exposed oak beams, solid Oak floors, stone window surrounds. This is house you'd be staying in on your relaxing stay in Derbyshire.

The Manor forms the formal front section of Elm farm, the restoration in this house focused on retaining all the classic 'Georgian' features and styles. There is an elegant and beautiful panelled room that has been fully restored, along with all other panelled and surrounds around the house on the ground and first floor. This is currently occupied by us and doesn't form part of The Lodge.
